Winter’s paved paths experience their first springtime. This month’s visitors are well-known herbalists Thierry Thévenin and Cedric Perreaudeau, author’s already of an excellent book on wild plants, now preparing a similar volume about Mediterranean wild plants. http://www.herbesdevie.com/herbesdevie/web/stages.htmlMay was the month of roses and meadows. Thierry and Cedric in just three days established a list of the wild plants of the hillside, include several rare species. This will be published here later, by area, with photos.

This year, wherever Jean Marc was generous with his sheep manure, huge clouds of wild chervil (Anthriscus sylvestris) created islands of bloom, here behind the solar panels.  Jean Marc made paths through the meadows just so that Thierry and Cedric could get from place to place.

A long spell of hot dry weather.  Suddenly, in a few days, a forty year old cypress turned brown! Jean Marie Rey, consulted through photos, diagnosed aphids “cinara cupressi“.  The tree is so enormous that intervention is difficult…
